For mountain and hiking enthusiasts we can offer the Alpi Apuane mountains with their marble caves, the Garfagnana (25 km) with its famous “Grotta del Vento”, Mount Abetone in the Tuscan Apennines, with its botanic garden. For those who love the sea and shopping, we can suggest the exclusive Forte dei Marmi in the heart of Versilia, and only an hour car journey away are the famous Cinque terre which you can visit on horseback, by carriage or by bike.
Finally, bird-watching enthusiasts can visit the Padule di Fucecchio , aboard traditional boats, it is still possible to admire rare species of both birds and fish. Let us also not forget, for admirers of garden architecture, a visit to the gardens of the three Ville Lucchesi (Villa Reale, Villa Mansi, Villa Torrigiani).
An absolute must for all Opera lovers is Torre del Lago on the lake Massaciuccoli (25 km) where you can listen to live performances of “Boheme” and “Madam Butterfly” held in a charming open-air setting, near the birthplace of the famous composer Giacomo Puccini.
As regards children, they mustn’t miss a trip to Collodi and the park of Pinocchio, which you can reach from the farm by following an ancient Roman road.
